Information

The Flower Trading Centre in Gultekdi, Pune, is set to be India’s first state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the trade of cut and loose flowers, with integrated digital trade and auction platforms. The Centre is designed with the intention of educating the farmers and traders on the opportunities, challenges and requirements of the markets by providing state of the art trading and export facilities, infrastructure and educational and training facilities.

Covering 26,000 square meters across seven floors, the Centre includes banks, a business centre, export facilities, training and educational spaces, exhibition halls, a cafeteria, administrative offices, conference rooms, and shops for trading accessories. It features designated areas for flower trade, loading and unloading, intake and packaging with a testing lab, dispatch zones, cold storage, and a digital auction hall. With approximately 435 shops and offices for traders, the facility is equipped with modern amenities, including air conditioning and waste management systems, to ensure efficient operations.

The Centre aims to create an integrated facility that promotes better opportunities for local flower traders. It focuses on digitizing trade and export processes, implementing educational programs, and providing advanced auction and exhibition halls.

To address storage challenges, the Centre includes a cold storage area to reduce losses from spoilage.

The Centre is based on green building principles, incorporating energy-efficient lighting, solar panels on the terrace, solar-powered street lights, a sewage treatment plant, and systems for reusing processed water. The construction materials are selected to ensure thermally efficient indoor environments, aligning the project with sustainability goals.

This Centre represents a significant development in the Indian flower trade, providing a comprehensive environment for both business and education while maintaining a commitment to sustainable practices.
