Information

Nagpur, the second capital of Maharashtra state has a strategic place among the international aviation routes. Being at the centre of the country, it’s at the crossing of the air routes between Europe and South-East Asia, as well as between South Africa and North-East Asia. In view of the location, Nagpur has a good potential to become an International and Domestic Hub Airport for all North-South-East-West air traffic.

The project involved the addition of a terminal building and a cargo complex in order to improve the capacity corresponding to passenger demand for the forthcoming 5-7 years of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport serving as a customs airport to the city of Nagpur.

The Airport capacity increased from 2 MPPA to 6 MPPA. The throughput of screening at SHA doubled from 800 Pax to 1600 Pax. Two additional entry gates make the terminal building L-shaped, making it a total of 4 entry gates. Increase in the no. of ticketing windows and airline offices, no. of check-in counters, no. of security check-in counters and waiting, frisking and boarding area. Two additional aerobridges proposed along with increase in no. of gates at air side.

An apron area expansion proposed of around 13500 sq.m. New cargo building proposed accomodating around 2400 sq.m. A structure for AOCC proposed to accommodate a staff of around 10-12 people and a ceremonial lounge for VVIP/ VIP guests.

Ambhora is being developed as a unique destination that blends religious, leisure, and wildlife tourism. Visitors can explore the Shiv Mandir and Buddha Vihar, offering a rich spiritual experience. The place is also famous for its Asthi Visarjan rites and we are also designing an AsthiVisarjan Kund with appropriate safety measures.  Wildlife enthusiasts can visit nearby Karhandla and Tadoba National Parks.
The plan aims to place Ambhora on the tourism map through the beautification of the site, riverfront development, and enhanced facilities like Yatri Nivas, VIP guest houses, shopping complex, and parking. There will be a towering Statue of Shankar Bhagwan along with a public park for local tourists.
Tourists and devotees can witness the stunning confluence of five rivers—Wainganga, Kanhan, Kolar, Amba, and Murja. Additionally, waterways will connect Ambhora to key districts, including Gosekhurd Dam and nearby national parks, forming a tourism corridor.
The project also focuses on infrastructure development for jetty, ferry, cruise boats, camping, adventure sports like via ferreta, mountain climbing etc. and houseboats, generating local employment and creating sustainable income sources for the community.
